Back

Alaska

This small group of postcards and photos are an important record of the life of Edith Child (sister to Helen Kegie’s mother) who settled in Alaska with her husband Bernard McMullan. Edith emigrated in 1909 and the couple lived in Seattle (1909), Valdez (1910), Seward from 1911 and were back in Seattle in 1919. The couple later settled at San Pedro in California. These images offer a brief glimpse into the world they experienced in their early years in North America.
